Overview
Sherlock Holmes is one of the most famous detectives in history. He was, of course, fictional and lived and worked in late 19th century London. He popularized the idea that, 'when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable must be the truth'. He also has a famous catchphrase - 'Elementary' - that means something is obvious.
Sherlock Holmes' stories are always fun because they have a twist at the end and also because the reader can try and be their own detective and by reading to the end can find out if they have the right answer.
Theme
The theme of this book is the battle between science and superstition.
If you read Sherlock Holmes, you will not be disappointed.
